Tree-Lined Park Path

A steady, compassionate space to explore who you are.

A steady, compassionate space to explore who you are.

My name is Vicky Platten

I’ve spent my life in roles centred around people — teaching, leadership, therapeutic work, and community support. Across all of these, one thread has stayed constant: I care deeply about creating spaces where people feel safe, seen, and able to explore who they are beneath the noise.
My work now brings together counselling skills, hypnotherapy, IEMT, and a pluralistic, client‑led approach. I don’t believe in quick fixes or one‑size‑fits‑all solutions. I believe in meeting you where you are, listening closely, and working together to find what genuinely supports your growth.
I show up as a real person — warm, steady, and fully present — because meaningful change happens in relationship, not in performance.

My Background

Gorleston.jpg

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years as a teacher and headteacher. Those roles taught me how to hold space for others with clarity, compassion, and attunement. They also taught me the importance of boundaries, emotional safety, and meeting people at their pace — skills that now sit at the heart of my therapeutic work.
Alongside this, I’ve trained in:
•     Hypnotherapy
•     IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy)
•     Pluralistic counselling approaches
•     Embodied and identity‑focused work
I’m also a long‑term student of psychology, emotional growth, and the mind‑body connection. I’m endlessly curious about how we become who we are — and how we can gently become who we’re meant to be.
Being a counselling client myself has shaped me just as much as my training. I know what it feels like to sit in the other chair, to be vulnerable, to not have the words yet. That experience keeps me humble, human, and deeply respectful of the courage it takes to reach out.

How I work

Warm and grounded

Safety first, always

Collaboration

You lead the pace; I support the process

United Hands Together

Human

No masks, no judgement, just genuine connection

My approach is:

•     Emotionally attuned — I listen to what’s said and what’s felt
•     Evidence‑informed — clear, accessible, and never full of jargon

I believe therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who truly gets it — someone who can hold your story with care while helping you make sense of the parts that feel tangled or heavy.

Why I Do This Work

I do this because I’ve seen how powerful it is when someone finally feels understood.
I do it because I believe people deserve spaces where they don’t have to hold everything alone.
I do it because change is possible — not through force, but through curiosity, compassion, and the right kind of support.
And I do it because I love watching people reconnect with themselves — their strength, their clarity, their calm, their sense of who they are becoming.
