Hypnotherapy for weight loss
Why do we put on weight?
People put on weight due to many different factors that extend far beyond simply eating too much or exercising too little. It's like a tapestry woven from biological, environmental, psychological, and societal threads—all contributing to the overall picture of one's weight.
Modern lifestyles can contribute significantly to weight gain. Sedentary behaviors, such as sitting at desks all day and reduced physical activity, mean we're burning fewer calories. Combined with the widespread availability of processed foods high in sugars and unhealthy fats, it's easy to consume more energy than we need. Lack of sleep and high stress levels can also disrupt hormones that regulate hunger and fullness.
Emotional factors like stress, anxiety, and depression can lead to overeating as a form of comfort. Habits formed over time, such as snacking while watching TV or eating late at night, can lead to consuming excess calories without realising it.
There are a number of medical conditions and medications that can also cause weight gain, and make it difficult to lose weight.
How can hypnotherapy help?
Harnessing Hypnotherapy for Weight Loss: Unlocking the Power of the Mind
Losing weight isn't just a physical journey—it's also a mental and emotional one. Hypnotherapy offers a unique approach by tapping into the subconscious mind to address the underlying thoughts and behaviours that contribute to weight gain. Here's how hypnotherapy can support your weight loss goals:
1. Rewiring Unhealthy Habits
Many eating patterns are deeply rooted in our subconscious. Hypnotherapy works by accessing this part of the mind to help reprogram negative habits and associations with food. For example, if stress leads you to overeat, hypnotherapy may assist in breaking that connection, promoting healthier responses to stress.
2. Enhancing Motivation and Self-Control
During hypnosis, positive suggestions and visualisations can strengthen your commitment to a healthier lifestyle. This heightened mental focus may improve self-discipline, making it easier to choose nutritious foods and maintain an exercise routine.
3. Overcoming Emotional Eating
Emotional triggers often lead to overeating. Hypnotherapy can help identify these triggers and develop alternative coping strategies. By addressing the emotions driving unhealthy eating, you may reduce reliance on food for comfort.
4. Boosting Self-Confidence and Body Image
Negative self-image can hinder weight loss efforts. Hypnotherapy aims to foster a more positive perception of yourself, enhancing confidence and encouraging behaviours that align with your goals. Embracing a healthier self-image can make your weight loss journey more enjoyable and sustainable.
5. Reducing Stress and Enhancing Relaxation
Stress can contribute to weight gain through hormonal changes and cravings. Hypnotherapy induces deep relaxation, potentially lowering stress levels and promoting a sense of well-being. Managing stress effectively supports overall health and aids in weight management.

We would work together looking at 12 factors, including healthy eating, portion control, bad eating habits and activity. I can also use regression to resolve any past issues you may have with food which can lead to negative thoughts and habits. We would start with a consultation session, where we discuss at length your concerns and goals and have a short hypnosis session, focused on relaxation and confidence. Following that, I would recommend 4 or 5 therapy sessions, depending on your needs. Each session is 50 mins to and hour and includes feedback on progress and more intense hypnosis.
