What is hypnotherapy?

A gentle, focused space for deeper change

Hypnotherapy offers a calm, relaxed state where your mind becomes more open to insight, clarity, and new possibilities. It’s not about losing control or being “put under.” You remain fully aware, fully yourself, and fully in charge.
What changes is the noise level — the busy, protective, overthinking part of the mind softens, allowing you to access the quieter, wiser layers beneath.
This creates a space where emotional patterns, beliefs, and habits can shift more easily and naturally.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works by guiding you into a calm, focused state where your mind becomes less cluttered and more receptive. It’s a natural state — one you slip into every day without realising it. Think of those moments when you’re absorbed in a book, lost in thought on a walk, or drifting just before sleep.
That gentle, inward focus is the same state we use in hypnotherapy.
In this space, the mind becomes:
•     quieter (less overthinking)
•     softer (less guarded)
•     more open (more receptive to insight and change)
You’re not “asleep” or “under.” You’re simply relaxed enough that the deeper layers of your mind — the parts that hold habits, emotional patterns, and beliefs — become easier to access and work with.

When the mind is relaxed, the usual barriers — overthinking, self‑criticism, fear, habit — soften.
This allows you to:
•     see things differently
•     feel things more safely
•     shift patterns that felt stuck
•     access strengths you didn’t realise you had
It’s not magic.
It’s simply working with the mind in the way it naturally works best.

What Actually Happens in a Session?

1. We begin with grounding and conversation.

We talk about what you’d like support with, how you’re feeling, and what’s been happening for you.  This helps your mind settle and gives us a shared focus.

2. I guide you into a relaxed, focused state

This is done through gentle language, imagery, and pacing.  Your body relaxes, your breathing slows, and your attention turns inward.  You remain aware, responsive, and in control throughout.

3. We explore the inner landscapeIn this calm state, your mind becomes more flexible.

You might:

•     notice images or sensations

•     connect with emotions more gently

•     access memories or insights

•     feel a sense of clarity or spaciousness

Nothing is forced. Your mind leads; I guide.

4. We work with what arises

Depending on your needs, we might:

•     soften old emotional patterns

•     strengthen inner resources

•     shift unhelpful beliefs

•     create new, healthier responses

•     explore what your mind is ready to release

This part is collaborative — you’re not passive. You’re engaged, just in a quieter, more intuitive way.

5. You return to full alertness

You come back feeling grounded, calm, and present.  Many people describe it as “lighter,” “clearer,” or “like a deep exhale.”

My approach

I combine hypnotherapy with counselling skills, emotional attunement, and a pluralistic approach. That means:
•     we work collaboratively
•     you set the pace
•     everything we do is grounded in safety and consent
•     the process is tailored to your needs, not a script

This is gentle work, but it can create powerful shifts.

Is Hypnotherapy Right for You?

It may be a good fit if you’re:
•     open to exploring your inner world
•     curious about why certain patterns keep repeating
•     wanting a calmer, more regulated emotional experience
•     ready for change, even if you’re not sure what it looks like
If you’re unsure, we can talk it through together.

Ready to Begin?
If something in you is ready to soften, shift, or be understood more deeply, hypnotherapy can offer a calm, supportive way forward.
